Our philosophy is rooted in the idea that character is integral to a life of meaning.

We believe clear thinking leads to good decisions, good decisions lead to the right habits, the right habits forge character, and character determines destiny.

“Acton Academy is one of the most important education developments in the world.”

We believe that learning to be, learning to do, learning to care, and learning to learn are more important than learning to know.

Learning to Be

Nurture a warm-heart and a tough-mind.

The Hero’s Journey, relational covenants and real world consequences transform difficult decisions into virtuous habits.

Learning to Care

Act with integrity and compassion.

Self-governing, conflict-resolution and studio covenants and contracts offer Pumas plenty of day to day opportunities to learn how to take care of themselves and each other.

Learning to Learn

Develop the habits of lifelong learning.

Socratic Discussions and self paced challenges equip young heroes to be independent lifelong learners.

Learning to Do

Take on real-world challenges that matter.

Hands-on Quests for Science, Entrepreneurship, and the Arts prepare children for Apprenticeships and real-world challenges.

Here you are truly free if you work hard. In Tinkuy we are kind and respectful.

Measuring Mastery

  1. Young heroes celebrate the mastery of tools, skills, and character by earning badges and taking part in public exhibitions.

  2. Learners use badges to track academic progress in Core Skills like reading, writing, math and spelling and character development in Servant Leader Badges.

  3. Young heroes deliver public exhibitions of their work at the end of each four to six week sprint.

  4. Self-management and self-governance skills are measured by peer reviews at the end of each session.
